The Neurodiversity Centre was founded by the Positive Psychology Guild (PPG) in 2024 with the aim of fostering inclusive approaches to neurodiversity in the workplace and other communities, and providing a platform for neurodivergent individuals to share their lived experiences and insights from academic research and professional practice on strengths-based approaches to neurodiversity and inclusion.
The Centre builds on the mission of PPG’s Autism Centre, which was founded in 2017 with the aim of establishing Positive Psychology-informed strengths-based approaches to autism in research, theory, and practice. One of the key research findings that emerged from this centre was on hope, fear, and courage. Autistic individuals may experience significant levels of fear and anxiety, and it is possible to orient their perspectives towards hope and courage.
The Neurodiversity Centre is led by Dr Reece Coker, who founded PPG in 2017, and its current projects in collaboration with organisations and individuals are:
- Neurodiversity Inclusivity Confident Award (NDIC Award)
- Strengths-Based Approaches to Neurodiversity & Inclusion
- Positive Education Approaches for Neurodivergent Individuals
- Positive Psychology Coaching for Autistic Coaches and their Autistic Clients
